This FLEET Industry Engagement seminar series aims to provide insights on university-industry collaborations, commercialisation of university research and industry options for STEM PhD graduates.

In this seminar, Dr Sarah Jaber will share her career journey from a PhD in Chemistry to a Business Development Manager specialising in industry – academia collaborations. Sarah will share her insights on university-industry engagement, the world of consultancy and employable skills that STEM researchers can transfer to careers outside of academia.

Dr Sarah Jaber is an experienced consultant, having advised universities in Australia and Europe on issues relating to university-industry engagement, research commercialisation, institutional strategy and performance, and research funding. In her current role as business development manager at the University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN), Sarah’s focus is on further developing UIIN’s advisory concepts and projects, including addressing new ways to support universities worldwide with their external engagement challenges.

Sarah has a strong understanding of the higher education and research landscape through her previous roles in KPMG’s education sector and the University of Melbourne’s research, innovation and commercialisation department. With a PhD in nanoscience from the University of Melbourne, Sarah is passionate about the translation and transfer of research out of universities.
