Wolfgang Ketterle
International Scientific Advisory Committee
Professor Wolfgang Ketterle was amongst the first scientists to observe Bose-Einstein condensation in dilute atomic gases. For this and his fundamental studies of condensates, Professor Ketterle was awarded the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physics, together with EA Cornell and CE Wieman. He is the John D MacArthur Professor of Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he conducts experimental research with ultracold atomic quantum gases.
