Dr Akhgar participatied in the Centre as an Associate Investigator in Research theme 1, Enabling technologies A and B. Dr Akhgar worked directly with CI Dr Julie Karel within the centre to develop amorphous topological insulator. She collaborated with AI Mark Edmonds and CI Michael Fuhrer at Monash University and with CI Alex Hamilton.
Prior to coming to Monash, Akhgar received her PhD from La Trobe University (Australia) in 2019. Her research interests are in growing intrinsic and disordered magnetic topological insulators via molecular beam epitaxy and then studying the electronic and magnetic properties by utilising magneto-transport measurements in a high magnetic field.
