Dr.

David Cortie

Scientific Associate Investigator, University of Wollongong

Dr David Cortie is a member of both the University of Wollongong and FLEET Industry Partner ANSTO. At FLEET David worked with CI Xiaolin Wang on magnetic topological insulators, performing density functional theory calculations, and validating these using complementary neutron-scattering experiments, with the goal of discovering new candidate topological Dirac semimetals in FLEET’s Research Theme 1.

David obtained his PhD in 2013 from UOW working on neutron scattering from ultra-thin films using polarized neutron reflectometry. He completed post-doctoral work at the University of British Columbia, Canada whilst acting a joint Max-Planck/UBC fellow. FLEET Executive Committee 2020-2021.
